The Institute studies what the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence means for people, organizations, and society.

How artificial intelligence augments, displaces, or reshapes human work is a management question. How organizations govern it responsibly is a leadership question. How the next generation is prepared to work alongside it is a question of values. Business schools are built for questions of that kind. The Institute brings the school's research strength in technology and organizations to bear on them.
Position
The Institute takes a sociotechnical and design-oriented view of artificial intelligence in organizations, applied to adoption, transformation, governance, and impact. Its commitments are augmentation over automation, agency over abdication, and human judgment at the center.
It is not a computer science lab. It is a business school institute, and it has been working at this intersection for forty years.

Miami Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Innovation
Two days in Coral Gables. One day for industry, one for the academic community, and the Institute's Industry Advisory Board meets alongside it. Registration opens in the fall.
Why it matters
The conference is the Institute's most visible output and the anchor of the industry pillar. It puts the researchers who study artificial intelligence in organizations in the same room as the executives deciding what to do about it, for two days, once a year.

All research projects →The Institute's undergraduate research program pairs business students with faculty on real research questions in artificial intelligence, and the students carry the work through to publication under their own names. Companies sponsor the projects.
A sponsor brings a question worth answering and the data or context to answer it. The Institute brings a faculty lead, a student research team, and a semester of structured work. What comes out is research the sponsor can act on and the field can read, not a consulting deliverable that disappears into a drawer.

Teaching · Experiential learning
The Digital-First Lab.
Undergraduate teaching at the Institute's intersection runs through the Miami Digital-First Lab, a student experiential learning lab at the University of Miami Business School directed by Alex Korogodsky. Student teams work with outside organizations and ship working AI systems, dashboards, and product prototypes, free to the partner.
The Lab runs its own structured method: a needs assessment before a team is assembled, a semester of faculty-supervised delivery, and a real handoff after the final presentation. Nine projects have shipped since 2023, across financial services, digital health, live events, sports performance, aerospace, and environmental technology.
